Richard "Rick" Buckner III was born November 29, 1963, to parents Jewell Buckner (Taylor) and Richard Buckner Jr. Rick was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He grew up surrounded by the love of his 6 siblings. They had a close bond. Through these relationships, Rick learned early on the value of standing up forothers, sharing what you had, and finding the joy in togetherness.
Rick had a gift for making others feel welcomed. Once Rick graduated from Schenley High School, he began his career in hospitality working for Darden restaurants. Whether greeting guests, assisting coworkers, or going the extra mile to make someone's day better, he brought heart into everything he did. Working in the industry for over 30 years, Rick took pride in his work and believed in creating wonderful experiences for everyone.
Preceding and following retirement, Rick made it his mission to live with enthusiasm. He found his greatest happiness in Marvel movie nights, traveling, exploring new restaurants, holiday traditions and family gatherings. He loved dancing and could often be found on the dance floor, encouraging everyone to join in. He believed music was meant to be felt and shared. He also had a deep love for wrestling, appreciating the athleticism and drama of the sport, watching classic matches. He was intentional about seeking joy in all of life's simplest moments.
Rick is survived by his children: Keionda (Kevin), Ricky, Mo'ney (Donnell); his grandchildren: Shahada, Khadijah, Jabril, Kamaira, Mila, Saniyah and Sanyel; his great-granddaughter: Asirah. He is survived by siblings: Joseph Buckner, Carolyn Alexander, William (Jennifer) Buckner, Allan Buckner, and Tasha Moore. He is also survived by Michael (Eunice) Bowie, a lifelong friend whom he loved as a brother. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives he touched deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell and Richard Jr., and siblings Keelan and Debra.
Rick believed life was meant to be celebrated. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the countless memories created. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
