On the day the world celebrates love, February 14, 2026 Louise Olene Mooney peacefully transitioned to eternal glory, reunited with the Lord she so faithfully loved and served. Louise's story began on April 6, 1925 in Connellsville, PA. Born to the late Anderson Jones and Marie Brown, Louise was an only child whose strength was forged early in life. Following the passing of her mother when she was just two years old, she was raised by her maternal grandmother, Nani Dowe. As a young woman, Louise made her way to Pittsburgh. It was there she met and married, Mr. William Martin Mooney, a WWII Army Veteran and jazz saxophonist. Together, they built a life and a large, loving family. From their union came five children who were the pride of Louise's heart: the late Claudius Mercer Mooney, Idamarie Craig, Cynthia Louise Mooney, Enora Edwards, and Marguerite Mooney.
To know Louise was to witness a woman of immense style and grace who commanded every room with her elegance and her famous signature hairstyle, "The Wave." Her eye for detail wasn't just for fashion; it was her craft. A talented seamstress by trade, she spent years serving the community at a well-known dry cleaner in Homewood. But Louise was also a true entrepreneur with a creative soul. She launched a unique business crafting stunning custom flower arrangements out of dyed pantyhose and wiring. Above all, Louise's life was a song of worship. A long-time member of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, she spent years lifting her voice in the choir, praising the Lord she loved so dearly. Her faith was the thread that wove through every part of her 100 years of life.
Louise leaves behind a legacy of righteousness, love, entrepreneurship, service, and family. Her memory will be cherished by those who remain to celebrate her incredible journey. She leaves to mourn her four daughters: Idamarie Craig, Cynthia Louise Mooney, Elnora Edwards, and Marguerite Mooney. Her light also lives on through her 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family, friends and her beloved neighbors and community.
God blessed us with her presence for 100 years, and now He has reclaimed His faithful daughter for eternity.
