Christanita Ghafoor was bom December 24,1935, In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late William Murray and Julia Mae (Jones) Murray.
On December 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to the late Fusul Ghafoor. To this union eight children were born.
Affectionately known as Christa, Moma Nita and Queen, Christanita devoted her life to caring for her family as a full-time homemaker. She later attended and graduated from Duff's Business Institute. She was a well-experienced daycare provider, lovingly serving mothers and families throughout the community. In her own right, she was also an interior designer and decorator, beautifully expressing her creativity.
Christanita was truly a Professional Mother" to the residents of Glenn Hazel, church members, and countless men and women in the community who were blessed by her nurturing spirit and guidance.
Due to complications from an unsuspected illness, Christanita quietly passed away at her residence on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Fusul Ghafoor, sons, William Ghafoor, Thomas Abel Ghafoor, Sr., and brother Michael Spencer.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons; Joel Ghafoor (Toni), Hosea Ghafoor (Gloria); and four daughters; Dorene McCallum, Michal Ghafoor-Howard (Ernest), Leah Ann Blanton (Owen), and Rachel Ann Taylor (Stanley) of Bowie, MD; A host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren including the youngest, Onyx Lee Ghafoor, who was born on her birthday, December 24, 2025; her brother, Willlam Spencer; stepbrother Quentin Spencer; two brothers-In-law, three sister-In-law, and a host of relatives and friends.
